Dubai: US airstrikes across Iran over the past two days have killed at least 14 people and injured 78 others, Iran's Health Ministry said on Thursday.
Hossein Kermanpour, spokesperson for Iran's Health Ministry, shared the casualty figures in a post on X.
It is the first overall casualty toll released by the Iranian government since the latest round of US strikes.
In response to the US attacks, Iran launched strikes targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, escalating tensions and further straining an interim agreement aimed at ending the conflict in the Persian Gulf.
The latest attacks came hours after US President Donald Trump said recent Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz signalled the collapse of the fragile ceasefire.
The United States launched strikes on multiple military installations and port facilities early Wednesday after Iran targeted several merchant vessels off the coast of Oman, triggering a new round of hostilities.
Thursday's attacks appeared to be broader in scale, with air raid sirens sounding at least twice in Bahrain, which hosts the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.
There was no immediate information on damage in Bahrain, Kuwait or Qatar. Kuwait's military said it was actively intercepting incoming drones and missiles, while Iran's Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it struck around 90 targets across Iran and released black-and-white footage appearing to show attacks on an airport runway and missile launchers.
"US forces remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief," CENTCOM said.
According to the US, the strikes were intended to "further degrade" Iran's ability "to threaten freedom of navigation" through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route through which around one-fifth of the world's traded oil and natural gas passed before the conflict began with US and Israeli attacks on February 28.
Iranian state media reported explosions in several locations, including Bushehr, home to Iran's nuclear power plant complex, as well as the southern port cities of Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Abbas and Sirik.
In Iranshahr, authorities said an airport firefighter was killed in one of the strikes.
For the first time since April, the US strikes also appeared to target Iranian bridges.
State media reported an attack on a railway bridge in Golestan province in northeastern Iran. Separately, Iran's Revolutionary Guard said two bridges on the route to Mashhad had been struck, where officials are scheduled to bury the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Thursday.
However, it was not immediately clear whether the bridge reported in Golestan was one of the two mentioned by the Revolutionary Guard.
